NANCY MITCHELL

Artist Biography

Born in Toronto in 1959, Nancy moved to Calgary in 1985 in search of a less hectic, more peaceful lifestyle, which she discovered in the mountains and wide open spaces in Alberta. Only in the past few years has she found time to express her love of nature through painting. She has studied watercolour and acrylic painting at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Red Deer College, and the Hollyhock Retreat on Cortes Island, B.C. Nancy moved to Drumheller in August 2005 and is fascinated with the landscape which she hopes to capture on canvas in the years to come.

Artist Statement

“Painting is my therapy, my way to relax and rejuvenate. I paint places that make me feel at peace and try to capture that feeling to be enjoyed each time the painting is viewed.”
